Janis C. (Duckworth) Reid “Old Jan”, 74, passed away Wednesday, February 7 at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis after a long battle with Breast Cancer. She was born in New Castle, IN and graduated from Martinsville High School. She retired in 2000 from her business “Old Jan’s Antiques” in Cumberland, IN, which she owned for over 25 years. She was a member for many years at the Fourth Church of Christ Scientists in Indianapolis as well as a member of the Depression Era Glass Club. She was also a member and made many friends at the Cancer Support Group at St. Vincent Hospital. She was an annual participant in the Susan J. Komen, Race for the Cure. She was preceeded in death by her husband, George M. Reid; daughter, Sheila Castillo; sister, Carrie Bowers; and brother, Paul Duckworth. She is survived by two daughters, Vicki Seaton of Indianapolis, and Michelle Schrader of Monroe, OH; sister, Jini Dellaccio of Gold Canyon, AZ; 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. There will be no funeral services, but memorial contributions may be made in Janis’ name to the American Cancer Society, The Komen Foundation, or the Salvation Army.
